I use textiles and acrylic paint to express my reactions to what I observe and how I feel. Manipulated papers and fabrics respond to movement and gesture and I am attracted to the topographical result.
I often use reclaimed material; in a society that promotes and values excess I find a nobility in reusing, giving new purpose to reclaimed fabrics. My sewing machine behaves as much like a drawing tool as an attaching one; with feed dogs away, I am making loose gestural lines reminiscent of pen and ink.
My process is fluid and forms can be initially self-determining. Interplay between the erratic and control builds a language within each piece.
