Technique

I use paper, fabric, thread, acrylics and various gel media to create unique textural qualities in my pieces. By limiting my colours, I make texture dominate. Wet paper and fabric afford me the freedom to crease, crumble, stretch and sculpt in all manner.

At the dry stage I often add thread, stitching on an industrial sewing machine modified for my special requirements. The sewing machine is just another drawing tool; the stitches free and expressive as any gesture line.

The work is completed on my easel where I harmonize and balance form and colour. The resulting work is fresh and strong, solid and expressive.
